Social Media is the World Today

The media company I will be talking about is ESPN which rules the sports world. They have several tv shows to espn, espn 2, espn news and several talk shows. they have endless podcast and talking heads. They even have shows strictly to help you with your gambling and fantasy football addictions or hobbies. ESPN was founded by Bill Rasmussen and his son, Scott Rasmussen. Bill started Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, in 1978 after being fired from his job. His idea to have a 24 hour sports only cable network has came true and is flourishing.

ESPN uses all the main social media platforms to extend their brand they are on tiktok, instagram, X (twitter), facebook, etc. They all have huge followings and big interactions groups. ESPN which is majority owned by Walt Disney Productions also has ties going back to them. They often have kids versions of their sport shows which reel in my family friendly viewers. They also have shows and platforms more for adults with more age appropriate jokes and hosts. On their main Account on instagram they have 28.3 million followers. They also have their individual accounts on instagram and X such as espncfb, espnnfl, espnmma, espnw, nabonespn, each of these have upwards of one million followers. They have found away to have a main platform along with secondary platforms. They have found away to target everyone’s interest in a huge way. They post daily about 3 to 4 times a day on the main account depending on how many sporting events are going on. They have insane graphics and keep up all the catchy saying. All of their platforms are all very engaging. All of their platforms and accounts get thousands of comments a day. Since ESPN is the main source for sport their accounts never have down time because they make sure to show all sport events. People in America and worldwide love their personal teams sometimes more than their own families.

Their next biggest form of social media is the new and improved ESPN app. You can check out your favorite sports team’s scores and updates and just one click and all in space with the ESPN App. They have talk shows, game updates, highlights, personalizations, etc. I check the app for my favorite teams almost daily. There main page on the app is called the scoreboard and they have section called, “top events.” Which show the scores and decisions for all the upcoming and live scores events. They have every single football score, NBA score, NHL score, even foreign score like LALiga, English Premier League. This is how they get you to watch these sporting events you can plan around the time that your favorite team comes in and you can even check the score when you are on the go. They even developed a paid prescription part of the app called ESPN+. Where you can take the TV screen straight to your smartphone and which your favorite team from any location and at any time. You can even watch back old games.

On ESPN+ you can watch documentaries, espn originals, shows, and all your favorite channels. You can watch UFC pay per view fights, watch the ACC network and SEC networks. You can also watch espn deportes if you have speak a different language than english. You can watch your favorite sporting events in your preferred language. All the college conferences have a contact with ESPN so their schools games can be televised on the TV and their app. ESPN+ is another way this huge corporation brings in money outside of the endless money they make off all their social media endeavors and tv channels. Their slogan is ESPN+ is for at home, on the go, so you can stay in the know.

In conclusion, ESPNs use of social media has been impeccable. It’s strengths is having a platform for everybody whether you like football, basketball, soccer or everything in between they have an outlet for you. They even have several accounts on instagram and X that are specifically for women’s sports and empowerment. They are well represented by women on set and on social media.
