Hi, my name is EJ Hankerson and this is a little intro about my life. First of all who am I, do any of us really know who we truly are. I would call myself a baseball player, but I am so many other things. I tell people I am an originally from Baltimore, Maryland. Which is true but not true. I was born in Baltimore at GBMC this is true, but I grew up in fallston which is in Harford County. We lived on 20 Fallston View Ct., in a beautiful home on the corner. I got lucky growing up as there was a lot of kids the same age on fallston view ct. I loved that neighborhood it was so special. I played fallston and bel air sports growing up which are both in Harford County. I am still a Fallston baseball and soccer all star if anyone was wondering. This is where my journey in life begins as I moved to Baltimore in Middle School.

I went to the Boys Latin School which is yes, in Baltimore. We moved mainly because the drive from fallston wasn’t worth it for my parents and I. Harford Day School which is near and dear to my heart is where I attended before, “BL.” I will admit it was awkward at first moving to a new town and school. The little 6th grade me who couldn’t wait to go home because I didn’t know anybody had no clue, I was in the process of making friends for life. I still talk to all those guys to this day, which is via social media and not as much Imessage. Fast forward from my middle school days. I switched schools again and attended Calvert Hall. I am proud to say I am a Cardinal and graduate. As we would say here I have Calvert Hall pride. I love that place it made me into the man I am today. I took my through my first heartbreaks, first drive to school, first party, first home run, etc. In fact I even moved houses again to my current address in Middle River, Maryland. I like to say I am a Maryland kid through and through so where I else would end up then the University of Maryland.

Back to my point earlier I play baseball here at the University of Maryland. I sadly am going into my junior year which doesnt feel real. I one of the oldest people on the team and it feels like I was just a freshman last year. I’ve lived the special and lavish life of a Maryland athlete and I am truly blessed. I’ve played in big environments and missed class to travel across the country. I also serve as one of our bible study leaders on the team which is my probably my biggest blessing here at Maryland. As I am going into my third year I think about how grateful I am to be a Maryland kid playing Maryland baseball it is truly a dream come true.

I will admit I probably use social media too much. I definitely need to cut down on my use of it. I love using tiktok instagram and especially snapchat. Some would call me a snapchat warrior which I think is false, but people would say my 1.7 million snap score says otherwise.

I love that TikTok has an algorithm it never ceases to make me laugh with a funny video or new meme. My favorite thing to do though is find recipies. My question is: How are they able to form an addicting algorithm so quickly?

As a baseball player I am always trying to find new ways to improve my swing. I feel like instagram reels is where I have learned the most about baseball and my swing besides my dad and my coaches. PSA: My dad has been my only coach until college. Question: Why is instagram taken so seriously and not casual like it used to be?

Final Question: Is Social Media Negatively affecting the brain more than positively?
